Cornerback Trent McDuffie put together an All-Pro performance during his sophomore campaign in the NFL last season, and at still just 23 years old, the accolades continue to roll in for the former first-round pick.
In fact, the folks at Pro Football Focus ranked McDuffie as the No. 2 cornerback in the NFL heading into 2024 this week, slotting him behind only the New York Jets’ Sauce Gardner.
Here’s what the article’s author, John Kosko, wrote about McDuffie:
“McDuffie, a 2022 first-round pick, helped lead the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowl victories to start his career. He has graded well, earning an 83.8 coverage grade that ranks seventh at the position over the last two years. However, he excels at preventing separation, rushing the passer and stopping the run, giving him an elite all-around game.”
McDuffie is the fourth member of the Chiefs to appear near the top of PFF’s positional rankings in recent days, as they tabbed Patrick Mahomes as the best quarterback in the NFL, Chris Jones as the league’s top defensive tackle and Travis Kelce as the No. 2 tight end last week.
