SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The 2024 NFL season is right around the corner and a South Dakota native is hoping to grow in his second season with the Green Bay Packers.
Tucker Kraft finished his rookie year with 31 receptions for 355 yards and two touchdowns, setting him up for a second season, which he says is a blessing.
“More or less just gratitude, having the ability to be there out in the field. What a privilege it is to take it all in, every single time I step out there, every snap really is a blessing and I thank God every day for that. Most importantly, I thank my community and everyone who supported me along the way,” Green Bay Packer tight end Tucker Kraft said.
Green Bay had the youngest roster in football last season, helping Tucker to feel right at home.
“It’s been great. Honestly, it feels like a college locker room at times. The environment’s young and youthful. Everyone’s got a smile on their face. One thing I love about our locker room the most, is that you can strike a conversation up with anybody,” Kraft said
The Timber Lake native tore his pectoral muscle during the offseason. He underwent surgery, but says he’ll be just fine by the start of the season.
“As hard as it has been on me and my wife the injury is just a minor setback. It’s a test, if anything, I’m going to come out and be a better player, a better person because of it,” Kraft said.
Kraft is eager to take the next step this year, despite having a solid rookie season something his goals align with as he tries to reach his full potential.
“This year, I want to be the best tight end in the front side of the outside zone block. It’s difficult, it’s not easy for a tight end to run off the football, an edge rusher. That’s something I want to be able to do and I want to be able to set a precedent in our run game,” said the tight end.
The Packers kick off training camp on Monday, July 22.
