Twist after girl, mother found dead in Sydney home

Must read

A home in Sydney’s north where a mother and her daughter were found dead had been raided by police just a week prior to the deaths, it has been revealed.

Jennifer Carrig, 54, and her 13-year-old daughter, who was living with a disability, were found inside the Marsfield home last Thursday morning.

Police were called to the home on Menzies Rd just after 10.20am following “concern for welfare” reports.

7NEWS was told Carrig’s son woke to discover the bodies in separate rooms before calling triple-0.

However, it has since been revealed officers from Counter Terrorism and Special Tactics Command executed a search warrant at the home a week earlier, after a 19-year-old-man allegedly graffitied swastikas around the Macquarie University campus in May.

“During a search of the home, police seized numerous items related to extreme right-wing ideology, which will be the subject of further investigation,” NSW Police said in a statement.

A 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested.

They were charged with destroy/damage property in company, face blackened/disguised with intention to commit indictable offence, possess graffiti implement with intent to contravene section 4, and enter prescribed premises of any person without lawful excuse.

The man was also charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

They were both granted conditional bail, and will appear in court later in the year.

Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the deaths of Carrig and her daughter.

Forensic officers were seen carrying evidence bags last week, stepping over police tape across the driveway of the two-storey brick home on Menzies Rd.

A swing set and netted trampoline could be seen in the home’s front yard as detectives moved about the scene, one of them inspecting what appeared to be a surveillance camera.

A close friend of the family, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said he was “hysterical” when he learnt of the news.

“I just dropped the phone and came over here … and yeah, I’ve been losing it,” he told 7NEWS.

“There is no way to make sense of it, I don’t know what to think.”

The man spoke of Jennifer’s kind nature after she had previously taken him in.

“She turned my life around … and to see this happen, it’s just crazy,” he said.
