HOLLAND – The Saugatuck High School boys basketball program has a new varsity head coach.
Ty Rock was already on the sidelines with his new team on Wednesday during a team camp at Hope College.
“I’ve only had these guys for four days,” Rock said. “I haven’t had a chance to work with them a lot. But the kids are super coachable.”

Rock was the varsity coach at Fennville from 2019-22.
“I got the job a couple of months ago,” Rock said. “I was bouncing around. I did West Ottawa JV and I helped out with Holland a little bit and the Saugatuck job opened up in late March.”
Rock, who played basketball at Gobles High School, is a teacher with Michigan Virtual Charter Academy.
He said he loves Saugatuck so far.
“It’s a close-knit community,” Rock said. “The families really preach values that I hold dear. There’s a sense of loyalty and that’s important to me.”
He replaces Brian Ward, who stepped down after the season.
