The US men’s basketball team will be looking to secure a fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal at the forthcoming Paris games with a roster stacked full of premiere NBA talent.
Despite the likes of Germany, Canada and France expected to offer stern competition, the team coached by Steve Kerr have enough strength and depth in the ten man squad that it is hard to see anyone but Lebron James and co.stepping onto the podium on 10 July to be awarded another Olympic gold.
Vegas training base
Kerr and his team will begin preparation with a basecamp in Las Vegas and will play one game in Nevada (against Canada on 10 July) before jetting off to the Gulf.
Abu Dhabi will host the second and third friendly games for Team USA as they face Australia and Serbia on 15 and 17 July before heading back to Europe.
London offers the final setting for the last two games as they take on South Sudan and Germany at the O2 Arena in the English capital.
Paris fixtures
The USA are pitted in Group C at the Paris games and will face Serbia, South Sudan and a yet to be decided qualifying team The top two finishers in each Group, plus the two best third-place teams, advance to the Final Phase – a single-elimination, eight-team tournament to determine gold, silver and bronze medals.
Group Phase games will be played at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille with the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be played at Bercy Arena in the French capital.
