Eight-time Olympic Gold medalist Usain Bolt believes Manchester United had a better season than Arsenal – despite the Gunners’ finishing 29 points ahead of the Old Trafford outfit.
It was a season to forget for Erik ten Hag’s side who suffered their highest number of defeats ever in a Premier League season (14) and finished the campaign in eighth place. And in the Champions League and League Cup, United suffered premature exits.
However, Ten Hag’s men were able to salvage their season somewhat as they defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final. In doing so, United secured Europa League qualification for the 2024/25 season.
Arsenal, meanwhile, enjoyed another impressive season under Mikel Arteta and pushed Manchester City until the last day of the season in the race for the Premier League title.
However, Bolt, a die-hard United fan, believes it was his team who enjoyed a more successful season despite the clear gulf in class between both clubs.
“It’s like I’m running on a circuit and doing well and then I get to the Championship and win no medals,” replied the Jamaican when asked who had the better 2023/24 campaign by talkSPORT.

Bolt also revealed his happiness that Arsenal fell short in the title race – even though they were battling United’s fierce rivals. “Everybody always asks me who I’d rather win the Premier League out of Arsenal and Man City – I’m like, ‘Man City, easy.’
“People are like, ‘But they’re your rival’. I know a lot of Arsenal fans and when they’re top of the table they talk so much and I’m like, ‘You haven’t won yet!’
“Imagine if they actually won? Oh my God, It would be over. I’d rather Man City win than Arsenal because I couldn’t deal with it.”
He added: “Liverpool? No, because they’d be tied on titles with us and we can’t have that and because Arsenal talk so much, I’d rather deal with Man City.
“They’re all young fans and I don’t know many young people so I’m fine with that!”
