Used car dealer attacks reporter and crew after requesting interview

Must read

A used car dealer, previously exposed by A Current Affair, has lashed out at a reporter and camera crew after agreeing to a sit down interview.

Just weeks ago, the dealings of Queensland motor dealer Mezin ‘Maz’ Hadad were laid bare by A Current Affair.

According to many unhappy customers, Maz has sold more cars with oil leaks than those with roadworthy certificates.

His record was so bad, he received a lifetime ban from holding a motor dealer licence or holding a motor dealer salesperson licence in Queensland.

But while Maz ran from our cameras when we first approached him, he seemed to change his tune after our story aired.

When Maz emailed A Current Affair to request an interview we agreed.

But after finding him at a Moreton Bay used car dealership, he seemed more interested in calling the shots than actually answering our questions.

“If I was a dodgy car dealer, would I have been a car dealer for 34 years? Answer that! Answer that question!” he asked our reporter.

As our interview continued upstairs, Maz became more agitated, throwing papers at our reporter. (Nine)

“You’re a piece of s—, you’re a grub, because you’re not going to air it.

“You’re a liar because you’re only going to air what you want to air.”

Cameras captured Maz repeatedly lashing out at our crew, wrestling with our cameras and even punching a cameraman.

Since sharing Maz’s alleged dodgy dealings, more customers have come forward to warn about their experiences.

When Nathaniel Cook’s old van broke down during a trip around Australia, he bought a Mercedes Benz from Maz for $9000.

It travelled only four hours up the road before it broke down.

He’s since had it towed back to his mum’s house, where it’s sat ever since.

It’s leaking oil and needs a new clutch, but Maz has blocked Cook’s number.

“He just needs to have some sort of punishment for this,” Cook said.

Maz was banned from the Queensland motor industry after the Office of Fair Trading took him to task for harassing and coercing customers.

Despite the ban Maz has reportedly been operating out of a used car yard at Clontarf, north of Brisbane.

As our interview continued upstairs, Maz became more agitated, throwing papers at our reporter before pouring an energy drink over his head at the front of the dealership.

But it appears the violent encounter might not be an isolated one.

Maz was also accused of attacking a property manager where he used to live on the Gold Coast.

He and his partner allegedly left the rental trashed after the alleged incident.

Customers have also claimed Maz became aggressive with them when they confronted him with their concerns.

“Once he feels questioned then his demeanour switches immediately and he can be quite scary,” customer Sienna Stephens said.

“He targets people like me, like the young people, the people that don’t know anything about cars, the people in a tough spot.”

A Current Affair understands the signage at Maz’s dealership has been taken down and he may be trying to set up shop elsewhere.
