Must read

WESTHOPE, N.D. (KMOT) – Westope-Newburg: 2024 Class B boys basketball state champions certainly has a ring to it.

This March, the Sioux made history by winning their first state title as a co-op at The B. Last week, the athletes received their championship rings.

The rings feature the Sioux logo on the front. It reads “2024 NDHSAA Division B State Champions” across the top, and each player’s name and number, along with the team’s 26-2 record on the side.

The team designed the rings.

“They gave us a huge book of rings that went from all different shapes and sizes, from small ones to really, really big ones. We finally met in the middle on these ones. We went 26-2 and we threw 26 diamonds on there and added two extra,” said Hunter Tolstad.

Will Artz described what it means to have his own name on a championship ring.

“It means a lot. I mean, it just makes it cooler I guess,” said Artz.

The players added that receiving the rings gives them more motivation to add to their collection, especially for the upcoming football season.
