Some of the biggest teams in women’s football are heading to WA for the Perth International Football Cup in September.

With women’s football still surging in popularity in the wake of last year’s Women’s World Cup, the four game mini-tournament represents a fantastic opportunity for Aussie football fans to see both some star Matildas players just after the Olympics, as well as some of the other stars of the women’s game.

The Sporting News has all the details on which teams will be participating in the Perth International Football Cup.

Who is playing in Perth International Football Cup?

There are four European clubs that are participating in the Perth International Football Cup, three from England and one from France.

English Women’s Super League (WSL) sides Man City, West Ham United and Leicester City will be coming down under, allowing the likes of Matildas stars Mary Fowler, Alanna Kennedy, Katrina Gorry and Mackenzie Arnold the opportunity to represent their clubs in their home country.

Jamaican star striker Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw will also be part of the Man City side, with Aussie fans familiar with her after she represented her country at last year’s World Cup.

The final team is Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who are the current club of starting Matildas centre back Clare Hunt, with the defender having joined PSG after the World Cup.

Where is the Perth International Football Cup being played?

The Perth International Football Cup is being played at two different stadiums in Perth; Optus Stadium and HBF Park.

The two semi-final clashes will take place on consecutive days at HBF Park, which hosted five matches at the Women’s World Cup last year, and the third-placed match and final will be played at Optus Stadium.

The stadium is one of the newest in Australia and also one of the biggest, with a capacity of 60,000 fans.

Perth International Football Cup draw, dates, schedule

The two semi-finals will be played on Wednesday August 28th and Thursday August 29th, both games kicking off at 6:15 p.m. local time.

The doubleheader will then take place on Sunday September 1st, with the opening game at 2:05 p.m. local time, with the final following on at 5:05 p.m.
