Dravid got a well-deserved send-off as India went on to lift the World T20 title in Barbados. The Men in Blue were undefeated throughout the tournament, becoming the first-ever team to lift the T20 World Cup without losing a single game.
Now that Gambhir has taken over as coach, speculations have already started of members who would be joining Gambhir’s coaching staff.

Abhishek Nayar to reunite with Gautam Gambhir?
According to Bengali daily Aajkal, IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) academy director and batting coach, Abhishek Nayar could be reuniting with the newly appointed coach of the Indian team. Nayar served as the assistant coach as Gambhir mentored KKR to a third IPL title in the recently concluded IPL season.
Gambhir though is playing his cards close to his chest and is yet to reveal his plans for the team or the coaching staff. The former Indian opener remained very diplomatic and careful with his answers when questioned about his plans once he became the new coach.
I don’t think that far ahead. You are grilling me by asking all the tough questions. It is difficult to answer anything right now. All I can say is I’m happy being here, just finished a brilliant journey so let’s enjoy it. I’m in a very happy space right now.
Gambhir’s first challenge with the Indian team will come in the form of Sri Lanka who would also be under interim coach Sanath Jayasuriya. The Men in Blue will be touring Sri Lanka to take on the hosts in a three-match ODI and T20I series.
Apart from Nayar, Gambhir has another name in mind for his coaching staff with India.
