Guilt is up there with some of the toughest things you’ve got deal with when you’re a parent, especially a working one, but not for John Krasinski.
The 44-year-old actor shares two girls with wife Emily Blunt and admitted that dad guilt isn’t really something he deals with when travelling for work.
In an preview for the Pop Culture Moms podcast he explained that it’s his wife who’s meant that he doesn’t feel bad when heading away from their family for his career.

“The fact that it’s dad guilt versus mum guilt is the beauty of being married to someone like Em,” Krasinski said. “There is no mum or dad guilt. It’s us, you know, as a family, we’re all in it together.”
He admitted it is “difficult” and it has lead to some tough conversations with their daughters, Hazel, 10 and Violet, seven.
“And we’ve had many conversations with our kids, first and foremost being that when we have to go away for work, there are some people who don’t geographically go away, but their parents’ jobs take them away till 8pm or 10pm, or you go on business trips over the weekend,” he continues. “So we’re all in it together, just in different aspects as parents.”

The Office star said that he tries not to look at is as guilt, rather as a way of showing his daughters that hard things aren’t always easy to do.
“When they see why you go away is because it’s something you love, then that’ll inspire them to do the most important thing, I think, which is whatever they decide to do in their lives, just love it,” he explained.

His children have been a big inspiration for him lately, with the girls’ own playtime and imaginary friends the motivation behind creating his newest film IF.
But when it comes to how the girls see their mum and dad, especially through their careers, Blunt’s magical roles have impressed them far more.
“I was pretty sure that they thought I was an accountant before this because their mom was Mary Poppins and in Jungle Cruise,” he told People.
IF was the first time he was able to include Hazel and Violet into one of his jobs and in the end their imaginary friends became characters in the movie.
