Away from the show courts, Britain’s Neal Skupski and Kiwi partner Michael Venus are battling with Australian pair Rinky Hjikata and John Peers for a spot in round three.
After losing the first set 6-4 Hijikata and Peers, who beat Andy and Jamie Murray in the first round, struck back via a tie-break, but Skupski and Venus lead 4-3 in the third.
Elsewhere, four-time men’s doubles Grand Slam champions Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram are just under way in their second round tie against Australian-German duo John Patrick Smith and Andreas Mies.
Briton Salisbury and American Ram lead 4-3 in the first set.
British partners Charles Broom and Arthur Fery trail Wesley Koolhof of the Netherlands and Croatian Nikola Metkic 3-3 in the opening set with the match on serve.
In the women’s doubles, Britain’s Olivia Nicholls and Serbian partner Tereza Mihalikova are heading for a deciding set after winning the opener 6-3 before losing the second 6-2 against Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko and Ukrainian Lyudmyla Kichenok.
And British duo Lily Miyazaki and Emily Appleton are 6-1 1-0 down in their encounter with Hsieh Su-Wei of Taiwan and Belgium’s Elise Mertens.
