Wimbledon: ‘It’s unbelievable, it’s amazing’ – Jasmine Paolini beats Emma Navarro to reach semi-finals – Eurosport

Jasmine Paolini continued her staggeringly good form in the last few months with a comfortable victory over Emma Navarro to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon.

Prior to surprisingly reaching the final at the French Open, the Italian had not reached the last four of a Grand Slam, but now she has achieved the feat twice in successive Grand Slams.

The 28-year-old, who has shot up the WTA rankings and is seeded seventh at the All England Club, had little trouble in navigating her way past the American in straight sets on Centre Court.

Paolini became the first Italian woman to reach the semi-finals at Wimbledon, a feat that she was immediately informed of after she completed the win.

After her latest incredibly impressive victory, the jubilant Paolini reflected on her remarkable progress on the biggest stages in the sport in her on-court interview.

“It’s unbelievable, it’s amazing to get the win on this special court,” she said. “I’m so happy to be in the semi-final. I don’t know what to say in this moment.”

“It’s a dream to be here in this position to be in the semi-final. I watched finals when I was a kid, on this court.

“I have to say, today I played a really good match. She’s a really tough opponent. I lost to her three times in the last year, so it was tough.”

“Yeah, of course,” she said. “In the semi-final, you have to play tough opponents, and she’s playing amazing.

“I hope to enjoy the next match, to give 100%, and I’m going to fight on every ball, and I’m just so grateful to be here another time, in front of you guys.”

Paolini will be attempting to go one better in SW19 than her runner-up finish at Roland-Garros, where she came up just short in the final against Iga Swiatek.
