A woman has died hours after a multi-vehicle crash that caused traffic chaos on a major Melbourne freeway.
The crash between three vehicles and a motorcycle, who was travelling inbound, happened at 6.15am on Wednesday on the Monash Fwy in Dandenong North.
The female rider, a 20-year-old Clyde North woman, was taken to hospital in a critical condition but later died.

“All drivers of the vehicles stopped at the scene,” police said.
The driver of a Nissan hatchback sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
The driver of a Nissan Patrol, a 34-year-old Pakenham man, was charged with dangerous driving causing death.
He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on June 24.
All of the citybound lanes were closed between the exit to EastLink and Wellington Rd.
Commuters were hit by delays of more than an hour that slightly eased after the morning peak.
The crash was cleared by 1pm and the road was reopened.
