ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College sophomores Emily Bruce (Orleans, Ontario/Asbury College) and Bailey Lengfelder (Renton, Wash./Hazen) were named to the At-Large Division III Academic All-District team, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced today.

The CSC Academic All-America and All-District program honors student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and have competed in 70 percent of the team’s total varsity events that were team scoring events to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades.

Bruce showed great improvement this season, lowering her stroke average by nearly five strokes from last year. The highlight of the year came this spring at the BU Rumble at the Ridge on April 20, where she earned medalist honors with a career-best 74. An environmental studies major, Bruce was named a WGCA All-American Scholar last year and earned a spot on the Academic All-MIAC team earlier today.

Lengfelder has been the Scots’ top golfer the past two seasons, earning back-to-back All-MIAC honors and making the All-Region team this year. At the MIAC Championships in October, Lengfelder tied for fourth place with a three-round score of 234. This spring, she placed second at the WashU Spring Invitational with a school-record 147 over two rounds. Lengfelder finished the year ranked 38th in Division III. Also a 2023 WGCA All-American Scholar and an Academic All-MIAC selection this year, Lengfelder is majoring in economics and women, genders & sexuality studies.
