CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.—The San José State women’s golf team continues to achieve great things on the course and in the classroom. This summer, the Spartans have made headlines with their academic achievements, the latest honor is the team tying for second place for the 2023-24 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award.
The team had a 3.916 combined grade-point average for the 2023-24 season, tying with Marshall for second and just behind North Dakota State. SJSU is the only team in the top-five to play at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
In June, seven Spartans were named WGCA All-American Scholars for the 2023-24 season. Those honored all contributed to the team throughout the 2023-24 season and helped San José State capture the 2024 Mountain West Championship.

Rebecca Gyllner – second honor
Moa Andersson – first honor
Darae Chung – first honor
Tessa Kremser – first honor
They are seven of the 1,497 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. To be selected for the All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average and played in 50 percent of the team’s regularly scheduled rounds.
About the Women’s Golf Coaches Association
The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 700 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
