Founded here in Australia and played across the globe, the World Golf Competition is an exciting and unique opportunity for the everyday player.
Golf fans follow the Majors and the professional tours, choosing their favourite players, following their ranking journey and taking in the beauty and the challenge of the world’s great courses. Many will also follow the elite amateur events, perhaps keeping an eye on members of their club who are competing or looking for the next big player to burst on the scene.
Many would love to emulate those players, to have chance to compete at that level and to play on those incredible courses, living a day in the life of their heroes. They would love to be able to see how they are ranked not only within their club but across the world.
What if the everyday amateur golfer could enter a global competition that provides access to the world’s best courses, the opportunity to experience the intense environment of the elite all through an unparalleled luxury golf experience?
What if this combination was played across 15 world zones and used a unique format to ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the game?
What if this combination meant they could be given a world ranking, accurately measuring them against their peers across the world and rewarding them accordingly?
The World Golf Competition, commencing in early 2025, combines luxury experiences and services with pro-tournament like golf. As explained by co-founder Jon Kerr “The World Golf Competition is like nothing the golfing world has seen before – to give everyday players the opportunity to live days in the life of a Top 100 Professional, combined with luxury services and on golf courses many do not get to access to, is unheard of”.
Kerr explains further that “Players are entering for the full experience that includes an opportunity to be world champion, rewards and recognition via the ranking application and tournament play with a fair and generous chance of progression”. He notes with a smile that “Our players have everything taken care of, they are able to immerse themselves in the event, simply arrive at their hotel, slip into VIP status and then focus on playing their best golf”.
Single Entry Fee
The Competition is open to men, women and all-abilities golfers that hold an official handicap. Entry is confirmed by payment of a single-entry fee to cover all inclusions. Hence, as your progress to future rounds in The Competition, there is no more to pay.
Unique 1 v 3 Format
The Competition is played using its unique 1 v 3 format. Playing handicapped Stableford in groups of four, entrants only need to beat the other three players in their group, not the field, to progress. The fixture is comprised of 4 Rounds leading to the coveted World Final to be held at Punta Espada in the Dominican Republic. As explained by World Golf Competition ambassador, Australian pro Marcus Fraser “A player beats 12 other players or if you like, wins four rounds of golf and they have made the world final in the Caribbean”.
In addition, each round includes generous bonus progression opportunities, for example, in Round 1, group winners progress as does those who finished in the top 50% of scores on the day. Scoring is handicap Stableford and all playing groups are handicap seeded. There is no limit as to the handicap entrants can hold, however the maximum they will play off in The Competition is 20.
Fair Play
World Golf Competition is committed to providing a true professional tournament experience that crowns a true World Amateur Champion. To ensure this, the integrity of The Competition is of extreme importance, as such, World Golf Competition will take significant steps to ensure all golfers are playing in the spirit of the game. This includes on-course marshals, live-scoring, accredited rules officials and a strict handicapping verification policy that sees a maximum handicap of 20.0 and all groups created based on handicap.
