DAYTON – Wright State head men’s basketball coach Clint Sargent has announced the signing of Andrea Holden to a national letter-of-intent to attend Wright State University and join the Raider program beginning this fall.

Andrea Holden (pronounced on-drey), a 6-6 wing player from Hamilton, Ohio, joins the Raiders from Hamilton High School.

“Andrea is the definition of a hidden gem,” Sargent said. “I am very thankful for the job Coach Higgins and his staff have done with his development. Andrea has the potential to grow into a type of player we’ve not had here at Wright State in my time. His athletic ability, combined with his great hands and growing skill set, is something that excites our staff as we can’t wait to help continue in his development. Andrea and his family are great fits for our culture.”

Holden finished his senior season at Hamilton with a 12.2 points per game scoring average while grabbing 7.9 rebounds per game, adding 1.6 blocks per game. He had 17 double-digit scoring games, including six contests with 15 or more points, with eight double-doubles and five-plus rebounds in 22 games. Holden had a career-best 26 points in a win over Fairfield in February, tying a career-high with 14 rebounds in the same game. A first-team All-GMC performer as a senior, Holden was also named a third-team All-Southwest District player for his play as a senior and an honorable mention All-Ohio honoree while helping guide Hamilton to the OHSAA Division I district title for the first time since 2004.

As a junior, Holden averaged 10.9 points per game while collecting 8.2 rebounds a game and averaging 1.7 blocks per game, including eight contests of 15 or more points and seven double-double games and five-plus rebounds in 20 contests. He had a season-high 19 points in a win versus St. Xavier and on three different occasions he recorded 14 rebounds, later earning second-team All-GMC honors for his play that season.

Holden recently played in the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star game at the end of April, playing on the Team Ohio roster with fellow incoming Raider Alex Bruskotter.
