If you’ve been looking down the sofa for some spare change you may be able to put your pennies together to buy this whacky investment.
A shopping centre in Caversham, Reading, has been put up for sale for a whopping £16,450,000.
The shopping hub, which is home to many big high street names such as Boots and Costa, has been open since 1969.
St Martin’s Shopping Centre is being sold as well as the 250-space car park, and ten flats which are being held on short hold tenancies.
The lucky buyer would also be given planning permission to add further residential accommodation to the property, which currently contains more than 92,000 sq.ft. of upgraded retail space.
Other major occupiers include Waitrose, Superdrug and Iceland alongside local businesses.
Local businesses that call the shopping centre home include a longstanding picture-framing and household goods store Terry’s, vegan restaurant Vegivores and The Caversham Butcher.
Two businesses are about to move in – an optician and a local bakery – so the new owners will have a fully occupied shopping hub, according to UK Property Forums.
Human habitation in the area just across River Thames from Reading dates back to more than 1,000 years ago, and it was mentioned in the Domesday Book.
When the shopping centre opened in the late 1960s, the selection of businesses looked very different compared to the retailers today.
More than 50 years ago, tenants included the Green Shied Stamp shop now occupied by Superdrug, while the Stan Eldon sports shop and Knights newsagent was located where Boots and Costa are now, according to BerkshireLive.
The modernised outdoor shopping hub with trees and planting is located just 40 minutes from London by train.
If owning an entire shopping centre feels too much responsibility, £16,000,000 could buy you country mansion in the Home Counties or a swanky apartment in Notting Hill.
