Nizamabad: Many youths, especially from Telangana state, have been showing interest in going and working in Israel in the present war-time conditions.
As per primary information, around 60 youths from Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Medak, Siddipet, Nirmal and Jagtial districts were cheated by travel agents with offers of jobs in Israel.
The Deccan Abroad educational consultancy in Kamareddy began collecting money from the youths with such offers. The agents collected Rs 30,000 and more from each candidate.
The agents collected the money in March and April and scooted from the sche in the first week of May. The gullible youths, who realised that they were cheated by the travel agents, lodged a complaint with the Kamareddy police on May 15.
Police formed two special teams to nab the agents.
Kamareddy police arrested Meesala Kiran, Gujjula Vijay of Armoor and Mohammad Ali of Hyderabad and sent them to judicial remand on Saturday. Police also seized two cars, laptops, computers, phones and other records from the trio.
Police said the accused confessed that they had collected around Rs 17 lakh from the youths but did not send a single person to Israel so far. Instead, they said, the collected money was utilised for their personal expenses and office maintenance.
The police also noticed that Meesala Kiran changed his name to Kranthi Kumar and his address in the Aadhar card. They also opened an account in Federal Bank and asked the victims to deposit money in that account.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Kamareddy circle inspector Chandrashekar said that all such victims should approach the police.
“If anyone offers jobs in foreign countries, youths should inquire about the credentials of the agency and meet the police for verification,” he said.
